Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan enlists X-Men’s Bryan Singer to direct Battle Creek pilot

Gilligan's new TV series with House creator David Shore is shaping up nicely with the addition of the Hollywood director...

One created among the most critically acclaimed TV show in recent years. The other is known for directing superhero epics including the X-Men series and Superman Returns. So the combination of Vince Gilligan and Bryan Singer on the former’s latest project is a mouth-watering prospect…

Gilligan, who wrapped up production on Breaking Bad early last year, has been working on a CBS TV series titled Battle Creek charting a new double act on the other side of the law to Walter White and Jesse Pinkman – a pair of mismatched cops fighting crime in Michigan. Now, it’s been confirmed that Singer is on board to direct the pilot episode, with the show expected to get the green light for a full series order.

The move will see the X-Men director reunite with Battle Creek’s showrunner David Shore, the creator of House – yet another series pilot that Singer has directed.

Battle Creek stars Dean Winters as Detective Russ Agnew – one of the show’s two leads who joins forces with an FBI agent to tackle crime in Michigan. He will be joined by House star Kal Penn (playing Detective Funkhauser) and Justified star Damon Herriman, who will portray popular cop Detective Niblet.

Battle Creek is expected to air in the US later this year with UK broadcast rights yet to be announced.
