Star Wars Episode VII will start filming this May in London

A new filming date has been announced for the seventh sci-fi movie in the franchise, London extras get ready...

Star Wars Episode VII will film in a galaxy not so far, far away… London, May, 2014.

Cast and crew will be shooting between May and September in the UK capital and it’s rumoured that London agency We Got Pop will put out a call for extras in March.

Abrams Director JJ Abrams recently said that the script was finished. “We have our script and we’re full steam ahead,” he revealed. “Have script, will travel.”

In November, thousands of hopefuls auditioned in an open casting call at Twickenham stadium for two new parts in the movie. Casting agents were looking for a teenage girl to play a ‘street smart’ girl in the movie and a man in his early 20s.

UK casting agent Kate Bone explained to the BBC before the auditions: “We are doing this to find someone who might not have necessarily gone to drama school. They don’t have to have acting experience – just the right look and then we can see if there’s any talent there.”

JJ Abrams has not yet revealed all the characters in the new movie, but Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo) are rumoured to be returning. Gary Oldman has also been in talks about a role in Star Wars VII.

Star Wars: Episode VII is set for release in 2015.
