Reece Shearsmith teams up with Doctor Who’s Alex Kingston and Noel Clarke in Chasing Shadows

ITV's new four-part crime drama will follow a missing persons unit charged with hunting down serial killers

There’s something of a Doctor Who reunion set to take place on the set of ITV’s new crime drama Chasing Shadows…

Alex Kingston, who plays River Song in the hit Saturday night sci-fi show, is set to star alongside Noel Clarke, who played Mickey Smith, companion Rose Tyler’s boyfriend.

Reese Shearsmith, who you might recognise from roles in Psychoville, The League of Gentlemen and The Widower, is also set to star in the new drama, which will follow a missing persons unit as they hunt down serial killers who prey on vulnerable people.

Shearsmith will lead the drama as DS Sean Stone, an “intense, socially awkward… misfit” whose “eccentric manner frequently lands him in hot water.”

Kingston will play his partner Ruth Hattersley, who is described as a “maternal, but not mumsy… stabilising influence”, while Clarke will play a character called DI Prior.

Chasing Shadows is written by DCI Banks writer Rob Williams and produced by Lucan and Wallander’s Francis Hopkinson.

The four-part crime drama will be filmed in south east England later this year.
