Past secrets are to rock Ruby Haswell’s (Alicya Eyo) world next month when her ex-boyfriend Seb (ex-Hollyoaks and Casualty star James Redmond) makes an appearance.
Seb will re-enter Ruby’s life just as she’s struggling with mounting debt and unsuccessful attempts to get pregnant and have a baby with partner Ali (Kelli Hollis).
Consequently, Ruby will be seen applying for a job as a carer who looks after an elderly gentleman by the name of William (Lovejoy actor Dudley Sutton), who just happens to be her former boyfriend’s father.
James Redmond said today of his signing to the ITV soap: “Having taken a five-year break from acting to concentrate on stand-up comedy I am really looking forward to getting back on the horse. It will be great to join the cast of Emmerdale and Seb will be my first time playing a northerner!”
Veteran actor Dudley Sutton added: “This will be my second appearance in Emmerdale as I appeared in 1997 as a tramp! It’s great to be back in Yorkshire and I have fond memories of filming the Beiderbecke trilogy in the same building as Emmerdale is now filmed.”
Kate Oates, series producer at Emmerdale, commented: “We’re delighted to have Dudley and James filming with us. Their wealth of acting experience makes them great additions to the show.”
