Filming starts today for FOX’s adaptation of the hit crime drama Broadchuch, originally set on the stunning Jurassic Coast in Dorset. The US version of the drama will be shot in British Columbia, Canada.
The crew has already arrived at the Oak Bay area, near Victoria and it’s rumoured that filming will also take place in Sidney, Island View Beach and Brentwood Bay.
The series will start at the former Guardian pharmacy in Oak Bay, which has been transformed into the small town newspaper office of the Gracepoint Journal.
The 10 episodes will be filmed around the area for approximately four months.
Creator Chris Chibnall will sit on the board as executive producer and David Tennant is brushing up on his American accent for the lead role of Emmett Carver, based on the character of Scottish DI Alec Hardy. Meanwhile, Anna Gunn (Skyler White from Breaking Bad) will play the female local cop based on Olivia Colman’s character of Ellie Miller in the British version of the series.
