The Waldorf Hilton, London – hotel review

Over a hundred years of opulent London history lie within the walls of this exquisite hotel at the very of heart of the capital’s theatre land.  Built in 1908, the incredible grade II listed building is oozing class at every turn; from its grand façade that simply commands attention to the intricate detail in the decoration in the lobby.

Just minutes away from Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square, there are few more convenient or grand places to base a stay in London. 

Each room is decorated elegantly and as well as maintaining a feel of grandeur and history has been carefully fitted with all of the modern amenities you would expect from a world-class hotel – the spacious Edwardian marble bathroom even had a television built into the wall of the bath.

Eating and drinking

What could be more traditional than afternoon tea at the Waldorf – an experience as much as a meal, offered everyday between lunch and dinner.  Cucumber sandwiches, cakes and tea – served in the grand surroundings of the hotel is the perfect treat for any visitor. 

Drinks, breakfast and lunches are available throughout your stay at the elegant Good Godfrey’s lounge, named after the former leader of the 1920s Waldorf House band. 

Main meals can also be enjoyed in the beautiful surroundings of the Homage Grand Salon.  Inspired by the grand cafes of Paris and Europe, the venue makes for a great way to start the day with a high quality breakfast, or to relax with dinner after a day in the busy city.
