Evander Holyfield becomes first person to leave Celebrity Big Brother

Boxer Evander Holyfield has been knocked out of the reality TV show after just seven days

Former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield has become the first celebrity to leave the Big Brother House.

Holyfield, who infamously had part of his ear bitten off by Mike Tyson during a match in 1997, was evicted last night after Blue singer Lee Ryan and glamour model Casey Batchelor were tasked with the job of choosing a housemate to send home.

When Apprentice candidate Luisa Zissman and Holyfield were revealed to have received the fewest votes from the public, Big Brother told Lee and Casey, who had been living the Bolt Hole away from the Big Brother house since Wednesday, they were to make the final decision about who would leave the competition, and the pair chose the former-boxer.

Holyfield left the house to cheers from the crowd, but told host Emma Willis that he thought he’d be more popular, saying: “I thought I’d be loved here, I thought I’d get more votes, but I didn’t.”

The 51-year-old American caused controversy during this relatively short stay in the house. Earlier this week he was disciplined by Big Brother after making offensive comments about homosexuality. They day he left the house he ignited anger for claiming that he’d punched a horse.

Big Brother continues on Channel 5.
