Call the Midwife series three: new homes, new faces and a royal visit – first look pictures

Chummy, Shelagh, Trixie and co get a new home in the third series of Call the Midwife

It looks as though it didn’t take Poplar’s midwives too long to find themselves a new home.

New pictures from Call the Midwife’s third series see Trixie, Cynthia and Fred arriving, bags and boxes in hand, at what might just be the new Nonnatus House. They all look very excited. Well, apart from Sister Evangeline. She doesn’t look too impressed, but then when does she, eh?

Poplar’s newly-wed Shelagh is there too, wearing a very smart suit and grappling with a typewriter. Perhaps she’s found herself a new role manning reception?

They might have a new home, but it looks as though the girls will be doing more than redecorating their bedrooms in episode one. Especially as there’s a new face in town: Sister Winifred.

Plus, Trixie is sharing some scandalous secrets around the kitchen table, the nuns are enjoying fish ‘n’ chips in their new dining room and their new digs are set to be kitted out with flowers and bunting when the nuns get a visit from royalty, no less. We know. Fancy.

Call the Midwife will be back on BBC1 in the new year.
