A car dealer, doctor, pub landlord and members of the Women’s Institute will attempt to take part in some of the world’s most physically and mentally demanding challenges this month, as part of Channel 5’s new travel series Go Hard or Go Home (8pm, January 13, on Channel 5).
Presenter Hannah White, one of the UK’s most accomplished sailors, has the challenge of getting each unfit British team in shape and ready for each race.
The incredibly scenic races include The World’s Toughest Canoe Race in Texas, The Bone Breaker cycle race across the Pyrenees, a quadrathlon across the windy western coast of Ireland and a 71-mile triathlon in California.
“My dream with this project is to give people the opportunity to experience the incredible life defining moments I’ve been lucky enough to have when competing,” said solo sailor White, who’s crossed the Atlantic three times.
“Setting yourself a goal, working towards it, and eventually achieving that goal is a feeling that I want as many people as possible to experience,” she continued. “So much is possible if you work hard, believe in yourself and never give up.”
Jason Wells, Channel 5 acting commissioning executive for factual and features comments explained that this is a very exciting new commission for the channel. “Viewers will enjoy watching Hannah put the competitors through their paces in these life changing challenges,” said Wells. “It’s really important to show our regular viewers that the opportunity to completely change their lives for the better is possible for all of them.”
Go Hard or Go Home will air at 8pm, January 13, on Channel 5.
