Abbey Clancy wins Strictly Come Dancing 2013

The model and her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec took home the Glitterball trophy in the first ever all-female final, despite a perfect score from Natalie Gumede

Abbey Clancy and her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec have been crowned champions of Strictly Come Dancing 2013, picking up the coveted Glitterball Trophy in the BBC1 show’s first ever all-female final.

“I just can’t believe this, it’s mad… I’m so shocked,” said the model after the result of the viewer vote was announced.

Earlier in the evening Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Brendan Cole became the final pair to leave the competition before the remaining three couples each revisited their favourite dances from the series.

Susanna Reid and Kevin Clifton performed a fiery paso doble, Natalie Gumede and Artem Chigvintsev danced a flawless American Smooth, scoring a perfect 40 points from the judges, while Abbey and Aljaz did their upbeat seaside-themed quickstep to Walking on Sunshine.

Twenty minutes later the pair were doing just that as an overwhelmed Abbey clutched the trophy while her husband, former England footballer Peter Crouch, looked on from the audience.

The result was predicted by viewers, with Abbey taking 38% of the vote in our recent poll.
