This is the moment when a crazed Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) will wreak her revenge on David Wicks (Michael French) by running him down in scenes to be shown on Christmas Day.
The showdown comes after David reveals that he has secretly recorded Janine confessing to killing Michael Moon and now wants £250,000 for his silence.
A frantic Janine attempts to embroil Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) in her plan to get rid of her blackmailer, but when he backs out, she resorts to carrying out the wicked deed on her own.
In the episode set to air on 25 December (8.30pm, BBC1), David receives a text from Janine asking him to meet with her. After stuffing the phone that contains the incriminating recording in Tiffany’s coat, David heads to meet Janine at Butcher’s Joints. However, when he arrives, everywhere is deserted and Janine is nowhere to be seen.
Suddenly, from out of the darkness, a car accelerates heading for David and he is sent crashing to the ground, where he lies motionless…
“Janine’s actions come from a place of absolute betrayal,” says Charlie Brooks. “She trusts David and she didn’t think he would ever betray her in that way and it forces her to behave very irrationally. In Janine’s mind, there’s only one way out.”
On the subject of filming the Christmas Day collision and whether Janine should get away with murdering Michael, the actress adds:
“There’s loads of stuntwork. It’s always exciting when you get to do something like this. It’s like doing a film. Personally, I’d like to see Janine escape and not go to jail – but can you really get away with murder in a soap?”
