Superman fans in the American Midwest: get excited. Part of the sequel to Man of Steel will be shot on a farm in the beautifully rural Kendal County in Illinois, early next year.
Workers have been beavering away on the set, which includes a farmhouse off Route 126 near Yorkville. The old farm site includes several buildings that will be used during filming by cast and crew. The house itself will double as the Kent family home, and will be decked out in line with the first movie. Last Friday, a roof was put on the house.
Henry Cavill will star as Superman in the second movie, along with Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Man of Steel made £404 million and much of it was also filmed in Kendall County, including downtown Plano, which doubled as Smallville.
The next Superman movie is set for release in 2014.
