Named after Brazilian footballer Sócrates de Souza, the New Black Films production follows the story of a father (Arthur) and son (Tommy), both Northern Ireland fans, as their team faces Brazil.

An Irish and Northern Irish cast includes Conleith Hill (Game of Thrones), Art Parkinson (Game of Thrones), Chris Newman (Saving the Titanic), Ciarán McMenamin (Jump) and Bronagh Gallagher (The Commitments).

Shooting for Socrates will be released in May 2014, before the Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
