Max Martini cast as Christian Grey’s bodyguard in Fifty Shades film

The Captain Phillips and Pacific Rim actor will join Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson in the EL James adaptation

Max Martini is set to swap Tom Hanks’ Oscar contender Captain Phillips for a completely different style of cinema.

The 43-year-old American actor, who has also appeared in Revenge, Pacific Rim and 24, has been cast in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

Martini will play Christian Grey’s bodyguard Jason Taylor in the big screen adaptation of EL James naughty novels.

He will join Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Jennifer Ehle, Luke Grimes and Victor Rasuk, as well as Eloise Mumford, who was announced as the actress set to play Anastasia Steele’s roommate Kate Kavanagh last week.

The Fifty Shades of Grey film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and has been adapted for the screen by Kelly Marcel. The film is based on EL James’s internationally bestselling erotic trilogy, which also includes Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, and follows the increasingly x-rated bedroom exploits of millionaire businessman Christian Grey and innocent college graduate Anastasia Steele.

Fifty Shades of Grey is set to be released in February 2015.
