John Hurt, Jenna Coleman and Steven Moffat to talk Doctor Who anniversary on tonight’s One Show

The Doctor Who stars and head writer will discuss 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor live on the show

With just four days to go until The Day of the Doctor, The One Show is hosting something of a Doctor Who special, with stars John Hurt and Jenna Coleman, and showrunner Steven Moffat, all appearing in tonight’s edition.

Hurt, who will play the dark and mysterious new Doctor in Saturday’s hugely anticipated episode, will be on the sofa alongside Coleman – aka the 11th Doctor’s companion Clara Oswald – to discuss “the drama surrounding Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary” with hosts Alex Jones and Matt Baker.

Meanwhile, Gyles Brandreth will be reporting live from the Tardis with Moffat, one of the few people who knows exactly what The Day of the Doctor will bring.

The Doctor Who 50th anniversary special airs on BBC1 at 7:50pm on Saturday 23 November, fifty years to the day since the first ever episode was broadcast. It will be simulcast in numerous countries around the world and is set to become the biggest drama simulcast in television history, as an estimated 100 million viewers tune in to see Coleman, Hurt, Matt Smith, his predecessor David Tennant and his companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), battle monsters including the Daleks and the Zygons.

The One Show is tonight at 7pm on BBC1
