Royal Variety Performance 2013 line-up: What will the Queen make of Chas and Dave?

The cockney crooners will be joined by Gary Barlow, Jessie J, Rizzle Kicks, Olly Murs and Jimmy Carr

Yack yack, rabbit rabbit,. Tottenham, Tottenham, no one-one can stop them. Daaaaaan to Margate…

Yes, I think we all know what territory we’re in here. We’re sitting round the old Joanna with those hairy purveyors of cockney camaraderie, Charles and David. Or as they are more popularly known, Chas and Dave.

Yes, we know exactly who they are. But will the Queen, when she has an audience with them later this month?

Chas and Dave will be marking their 50th anniversary with an appearance at this year’s Royal Variety Performance in what we are told will be an unforgettable evening of music.

Also serenading Her Majesty at the event (held on 25 November and broadcast on ITV in December) will be Gary Barlow, Jessie J, Rizzle Kicks, Olly Murs, jazz singer Caro Emerald, and Welsh opera star Bryn Terfel.

Comedy comes from Jimmy Carr – “It’s a great honour and privilege to have me at the Royal Variety. I can’t believe their luck” – Jason Byrne, Hal Cruttenden and Seann Walsh.

The world of ice skating will be represented (in case you were wondering) by Torvill & Dean, who will appear to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their Olympic Gold medal performance of Ravel’s Bolero.

There will also be performances from Britain’s Got Talent winners Attraction and much much more but already we are licking our lips at the prospects of north London’s favourie singers tickling the ivories and belting out some of their best numbers.

As for the duo themselves, they are looking forward to it as well.

They said: “Chas & Dave on the Royal Variety Performance? About time too, we say”.

Quite right, me old china….
