Matt Smith and David Tennant team up in Doctor Who 50th anniversary extended trailer

It's the Day of the Doctor Who trailers as a longer version of today's teaser airs on BBC1 featuring John Hurt, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper, Joanna Page, Daleks AND Zygons

Honestly. You wait months and months for a Day of the Doctor trailer and then two come along at once. This morning a 40-second teaser was released featuring exciting new footage from the Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode, but that was nothing compared with the extended trailer aired later this evening after Atlantis on BBC1.

The longer version has all our favourite faces including the two Doctors, Matt Smith and David Tennant, John Hurt’s mysterious character, Jenna Coleman and Billie Pipers as assistants, Clara and Rose, and Joanna Page taking a regal turn as Queen Elizabeth I.

From the look of the footage there are plenty of Daleks, Zygons, explosives and special effects, plus a Doctor double act that will no doubt delight Whovians as the 10th and 11th incarnations compare spectacles, sonic screwdrivers and the interior design of the Tardis. Oh, and Matt Smith can be seen dangling perilously from the doors of his time travelling machine.

Meanwhile a solitary John Hurt is in search of the Doctor and spends a part of the trailer in discussion with Rose who ominously informs him, “The moment is coming.”

Indeed it is, with just two weeks to go until The Day of the Doctor airs on 23 November in selected cinemas and on BBC1 at 7:50pm. But in the meantime, feast your eyes on the footage below…
