How would you fancy being stranded in space with George Clooney?

Gravity screenwriter Jonas Cuaron, who penned the space-set thriller with his father, the film’s director, Alfonso Cuaron, says the 52-year-old silver fox is his first choice if he ever ends up lost outside the earth’s atmosphere (as you do).

“If I were ever stranded in space I’d want someone like George [Clooney] by my side,” he told Deadline.

It’s a little bit of an ‘out there’ statement to make. Dream dinner party guests, yes. Fellow desert island castaway, maybe. But your stuck-in-space companion? It isn’t something we’ve given much thought. But we can see where Cuaron is coming from…

He’s calm under pressure. Just listen to this:

He’s got medical knowledge, for those worst case senarios…

He’s funny. For, you know, the more light hearted moments during your disaster…

He can (kind of) speak other languages, which might came in handy. You never know who you might meet in space…

And, let’s face it, he’s not bad to look at.

Gravity is in UK cinemas today
