The Shining Hotel is now open for weddings

Couples can now have their special day in the same place where Stephen King wrote his historic horror

The Stanley hotel in Colorado, near the Rocky Mountains, is being turned into a key wedding venue… it’s also the exact spot where Stephen King thought up Jack – his deranged madman in The Shining.

Not the best omen for a successful marriage, you may think. However, fans of the movie have travelled the world over to bed up in room 217 – where King gained inspiration for his horror movie. Perhaps we’ll now see some Shining-themed weddings at the venue.

The Shining novel later inspired Stanley Kubrick’s hit ‘80s horror flick of the same name, starring Jack Nicholson.
