BBC2’s hit cooking competition The Great British Bake Off is getting the musical treatment. Think Bohemian Bap-sody, Lady in Bread and the Dark Side of the Spoon (feel free to add your own in the comment box below…)

The Bakewell Bake Off: A New Musical was written by a group of postgradute students from the Guildford School of Acting and is inspired by the dramas in the Bake Off tent – and no doubt by Sue’s tuneful cry of “BAKE!” at the start of each challenge.

Following seven amateur bakers, the tasty, tuneful number both “gently satirises” Britain and celebrates “all things cake.” Sounds pretty good to us.

See if Paul and Mary’s cake-based competition translates into the world of song and dance at The Landor Theatre in South London between 10 and 26 October.

The Great British Bake Off continues on Tuesdays at 8:00pm on BBC2
