Nominated for: Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Role: Lady Mary Crawley in Downton Abbey
Another Downton Abbey nomination, one of the 12 for the hit period drama.
It’s also the second time Michelle Dockery has received an Emmy nomination for her role as Lady Mary – last year she lost out to Claire Danes from Homeland in the best actress category.
Dockery will be up against Danes again this year, although with Hugh Bonneville, Dame Maggie Smith, Jim Carter and Julian Fellowes all nominated, there will definitely be safety in numbers for the Downton nominees.
The Downton leading lady has already paid tribute to her fellow hopefuls, which also includes Top of the Lake’s Elisabeth Moss. “I feel like we’re in this fantastic time of TV roles written for women,” she said. “There is this complexity about them.”
