Nominated for: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Role: Sergeant Nicholas Brody in Homeland

Damian Lewis is nominated for the second time in a row for his role as the divided American war veteran. He’s also one of the most recognisable British actors working in the US, and made light of this when he won his first Emmy last year.

“I’m one of those pesky Brits, I apologise,” he said during his acceptance speech. “I don’t really believe in judging art, but I thought I’d show up just in case.”

Homeland swept the board in the drama category last year, with Damian Lewis beating fellow Brit Hugh Bonneville in the lead actor category.
