This Morning will return to its home at Albert Dock in Liverpool for a one-off 25th anniversary special on Thursday 3 October. And as if that’s not enough, the bumper show will feature original hosts Richard Madeley and Judy Finnagan.
The ITV press release also makes reference to the return of the “infamous” floating weather map, which for the special show will be overseen by Keith Lemon. The map was originally manned by presenter and meteorologist Fred Talbot, who in April 2013 was arrested by police investigating historical sex offences.
As part of the programme’s 25th anniversary celebrations, This Morning will launch a “Take a Moment” campaign, encouraging the public to perform acts of kindness in the community. The government has pledged to pay £5 per act of kindness – with the grand total of money raised for charity to be revealed on the anniversary show.
This Morning launched on ITV in 1988, and has become one of the commercial broadcaster’s longest running shows. In 1996 the series relocated to London Studios on the South Bank of the capital in order that Richard and Judy could secure higher profile guests.
Richard and Judy left the programme in 2001. Currently presented by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford fronting the show on Fridays, This Morning airs on weekdays from 10:30am.
