Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings – only the crème de la crème of the entertainment industry get their own Lego series. So, after over 500 episodes America’s favourite family, The Simpsons, seem an obvious choice.
They’re already yellow-skinned, they’re synonymous with television audiences across the globe and their show is the longest-running US sitcom ever, chalking up 24 seasons since 1989.
After confirming on Monday that a special Simpsons Lego series would be on sale globally in 2014, Lego spokesman Roar Rude Trangbaek was keeping details of which characters would be available close to his chest, but did reveal the company hopes the range will, “appeal to fans of The Simpsons’ family.”
Fingers crossed that tantalising titbit means not only a Lego Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, but a recreation of Springfield’s historic landmarks and favourite characters. A Lego-based Krusty the Clown, Mr Burns, Patty, Selma, Ned Flanders, Moe Szyslak, Barney Gumble and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon? Yes please!
