William, Kate and Royal baby George star in UK tourism campaign

A new poster for VisitBritain featuring the new Prince George and his proud parents will target 21 countries to promote the nation as a family friendly holiday destination

VisitBritain’s latest campaign features the slogan ‘welcome to Great Britain’ next to the now iconic image of William and Kate’s baby George Alexander Louis, on the steps of St Mary’s hospital, to advertise the UK as a family friendly destination to 21 nations.

The poster continues: ‘Many congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby boy’, and is rounded off with a suitably patriotic Union flag.

The campaign aims to grow interest in Britain’s culture and heritage, which is already worth a sizable £4.6bn to the UK tourism industry and economy.

Mark Di-Toro at VisitBritain said: “With the birth of the Prince of Cambridge, we’re looking to highlight Britain globally as the ideal family destination, with plenty to do whatever your generation.”
 

Hours after the birth of Prince George, VisitBritain began planning ways to sell tourism sights connected to the Royal family. They have initiated campains relating to Sandringham – the Queen’s Norfolk estate – as well as St Andrews in Fife, where William and Kate met as students, and Edinburgh Castle and Anglesey in Wales, where William served as a pilot and the couple lived.


Countries targeted in the campaign include USA, Canada, Brazil, Australia, China, Japan, India, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Poland, UAE, France, Austria, Denmark and more.
