Sky Arts adds Spanish period drama Isabel to foreign line-up

New series comes alongside two returners – Spanish melodrama Grand Hotel and French porn comedy Hard

Foreign drama gets a boost as Sky Arts adds epic Spanish drama Isabel to its summer line-up.

Award-winning Isabel charts the life of Isabella I of Castile (Michelle Jenner), from her political struggles with King Henry IV’s court to her wedding to Ferdinand of Aragon.

Jenner won best TV actress at the Fotogramas de Plata Awards for her portrayal of the Queen. The Spanish-born actress is also known for providing the voice of Hermione Granger in the Spanish dubbed Harry Potter films.

Sky Arts will also boast the return of part black comedy part domestic drama, Hard, which follows Sophie’s (Natacha Lindinger) struggles at the helm of the adult film industry – a role she inadvertently inherited from her late husband.

Grand Hotel also returns to tie up some of the loose ends from series one’s cliffhanger. Set once more in the Spanish Palacio de la Magdalena, the plot delves further into the young love of Julio (Yon Gonzalez) and Alicia (Amaia Salamanca).

The returning series’ will begin with a double-bill of Hard, on Sky Arts 1 on Friday 17 August at 10pm.
