Lea Michele, the long-term girlfriend of the late Glee star Cory Monteith, has released a statement saying she is “deeply grateful” for the “love and support” she’s received from fans.
The official statment from Michele, who met Monteith on the set of hit fox series Glee where she played his on-off girlfriend Rachel Berry, reads: “Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans.
“Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them. They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family.”
The 31-year-old Monteith was found dead in his hotel room on Saturday and a recent coroner’s report has found that he died from an overdose of heroin and alcohol.
A representative of British Columbia’s coroner’s office said: “There is no evidence to suggest Mr Monteith’s death was anything other than a most sad and tragic accident.”
Monteith, who played loveable jock Finn Hudson in Glee, had talked openly about his battles with addiction and had most recently checked himself into rehab in April of this year.”
