Doctor Who actress Catherine Tate to begin filming Superbob in London

The British movie about a postman who gets superpowers after a meteor crashes to earth, will also star Natalia Tena, Laura Haddock and Brett Goldstein

The principle photography for new romantic comedy flick Subperbob has started in London. It will star Doctor Who’s Catherine Tate, Brett Goldstein (Derek), Laura Haddock (The Inbetweeners Movie), Ruth Sheen (Run Fat Boy Run) and Ricky Grover (Getting On).

The film follows a city postman who ends up with superpowers after a meteor hits planet earth, but his new found power doesn’t help his terrible luck with the ladies. We watch as he embarks on his first date in six years.

The movie’s director, Jon Drever, has also produced a short film of the same name. However, this will be his feature debut.

Lead star Goldstein shared a little humorous insight into his character: “Every day, as I crush my testicles into a far too tight superhero costume in a Peckham high street, I look at my wincing face in the mirror and gently repeat my mantra, ‘I’m living the dream…I’m living the dream…’”

Director Drever added: “I feel so lucky that this story has attracted such a cast of brilliant comic actors and am having the time of my life working them. As for Brett, I grew up with him, and although his testicles are a bit too big for the role, we’re working around them.”
