The name’s Mendes; Sam Mendes. And he’s back to direct the follow-up to the highly successful James Bond film Skyfall.
By public announcement today, Sony have finally put an end to the ‘will he? Won’t he?’ speculation by confirming that both Daniel Craig and director Sam Mendes will return for Bond’s unnamed 24th film outing, due to arrive in cinemas on October 23, 2015 in the UK and November 6, 2015 in the US. It will be scriped by Skyfall screenwriter John Logan.
Mendes, who has been busy working on a stage version of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, said he was “very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, [producers] Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time.”
Skyfall, the 23rd film in the spy series, took in $1.1 billion worldwide and set a new mark as the highest-grossing film of all time in the UK.
