Her next move is to trick Paddy (Dominic Brunt) into giving her a lift into town, but he is horrified to realise that he’s potentially brought Laurel to the carjacker’s house. He ties to keep her in the car but she is determined and Paddy has no choice but to go after her.

“She realises she’s putting herself in danger, but she’s so driven by thoughts of protecting her family,” says Charlotte Bellamy, who plays Laurel. “She feels that if she confronts him and faces her fears, she’ll be able to make the situation better.”

At the house, an old lady by the name of Doris opens the door and invites Laurel to see the console. After examining the item, Laurel is convinced it is Arthur’s and asks Doris how she got it. The woman replies that it came from her grandson, who Laurel then accuses of being the carjacker. Laurel’s blood then runs cold as Doris’s grandson Dean – so has she come face to face with her attacker?

“It’s a very dangerous position to be in,” says the actress. “But she’s just trying to understand how she became victim to such a terrible attack in the first place. It’s more common than people think – we never think about locking our doors when we’re sitting in a traffic jam, for instance. You can be very vulnerable in a car.”
