It was announced back in November that Lara Pulver was to guest-star in the seventh and final series of Skins as Vanessa – a “ball-breaking business bitch”.
Tonight the Sherlock actress will make her first appearance on-screen with Fonejacker’s Kayvan Novak in an episode starring Kaya Scodelario, who revists her character, Effy.
The final series of the E4 drama following troubled Bristolian teenagers also sees the return of Hannah Murray and Jack O’Connell who will reprise the roles of Cassie and Cook, as we catch up with some of the series’ most popular characters in their adult lives.
Effy’s two-part story, entitled Fire, will find her working as a receptionist at a hedge fund company. She begins an affair with her affluent boss before coming across some crucial financial information relating to a troubled deal.
Speaking of her role, Pulver – who is also set to appear alongside Dominic Cooper in Sky Atlantic’s new drama, Fleming – said: “It’s been fun for me to step into a very different style of TV show. But there’s actually kind of a parallel, as I’m joining Skins at a time when the show is also entering new territory, following these well known and loved characters as they start the next chapter of their lives.
“Playing opposite Kaya has been a lot of fun. We’re both playing strong minded, ambitious women who are in the midst of very different stages of their lives. This causes friction between them and yet they can’t help but find compassion and an ally in one another.”
The new series of Skins begins tonight at 10:00pm on E4
