UKTV to close Blighty and launch new Drama channel

A reshuffle of Freeview channels on the EPG will see Gold and Home move slots

UKTV is closing its pay-TV channel Blighty after four years to make way for a new channel called Drama.

Drama will open for business on 8 July with classic series including Last of the Summer Wine and Call The Midwife and will occupy Freeview slot 20 on the Electronic Programme Guide.

The launch sees a reshuffle of the Freeview channels, with comedy pay-TV channel Gold moving to slot 26 and Home moving to slot 54.

Blighty, which was launched in 2009 as a rebrand of UKTV People, broadcast shows such as Dom Joly’s travel show Made in Britain. It will close at midnight on July 5.
