As the final week of Britain’s Got Talent rolls around, huge stars descend on the stage, courtesy of Simon Cowell’s bulging address book.
Calling on talent from the many entertainment pies Cowell has his fingers in, superstars Jennifer Lopez, Ellie Goulding, Demi Lovato, Olly Murs and last year’s winner Ashleigh and Pudsey are all confirmed acts.
Upping the ante for the 45 handpicked semi-finalists, Simon’s showbiz pals will perform while the acts await the viewers’ verdict.
Jennifer Lopez will be rocking her famous tush around the stage to her latest hit Live It Up, while Ellie Goulding will wow with a medley of her recent tracks. Olly Murs is to bring his cheeky charm to proceedings with hit track Right Here Right Now, but of course they’ll all be out-done by a dancing dog, courtesy of Ashleigh and Pudsey.
As with previous series the live semi-finals take place each night for an entire week. Kicking off on bank holiday Monday, nine acts will perform every night. Each hoping upon hope to avoid those dreaded buzzers, get their act right and win a spot on the Royal Variety Performance. No pressure, right?
Although, while Simon and fellow judges Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alisha Dixon still have their buzzing power, voting is on the whole handed over to viewers. The act with the highest number of votes will go straight through, while the two runners-up will face the judges, who’ll vote for their favourite to go through.
Sounds simple right? Depending on which acts the judges put through, there may very well be some divers on fire, a bit of sword-swallowing and floating women among all that. But this is live telly, nothing can go wrong can it?
Britain’s Got Talent live semi-finals start at 7:30pm Monday 27 May on ITV
