Hugo’s Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield to reunite in The White Circus

The teenage stars of Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winner are back together for the dark fairy tale

Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield, the teenage leads of Martin Scorsese’s Hugo, are to reunite on the set of dark fairytale The White Circus.


The 16-year-old stars, who played Hugo and Isabelle in the Oscar-winning 2011 feature, will appear together in the romantic adventure set on a snowy New Year’s Eve.

The wartime film follows a young pilot on his first mission, who crashes into a town where he befriends a talking bear and falls in love with a captivating cabaret singer.

Andrea Riseborough and Christian Friedel are also set to star in the movie, which is produced by Terry Gilliam. Newcomers Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski will direct.

Starlet Chloe Moretz is hot Hollywood property at the moment, appearing as spunky teenage superhero in Kick Ass 2 this summer, as well as in the title role of cult horror remake Carrie later this year. Moretz has also been connected with a number of other projects including Lynn Shelton’s Laggies and Bill Purple’s The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.


British actor Asa Butterfield, whose CV includes roles in BBC1’s Merlin, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, also stars in upcoming blockbuster Ender’s Game.
