Anne Hathaway to star in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar

The Oscar-winning actress will appear opposite Matthew McConaughey in the sci-fi film

Les Miserables star Anne Hathaway is set to star in new Christopher Nolan film Interstellar.

Hathaway, who recently won an Oscar for her role as Fantine in Tom Hooper’s movie adaptation of musical Les Miserables, will play the female lead, starring opposite Magic Mike’s Matthew McConaughey, according to Deadline.

Plot details for the sci-fi thriller are scarce but we do know that Interstellar – which will be directed by Batman trilogy director Nolan and produced by Lynda Obst and Emma Thomas – will follow a journey into space, the scientific study of wormholes and something to do with time travel.

Though the film will see her reunite with her Batman director – the star worked with Nolan when she played Catwoman – there is no news yet on whether Nolan will have her donning an all-in-one for the role.

Interstellar is expected to be released in late 2014.
