The Channel 4 catch-up service, 4oD, is finally to become available via Sky boxes, completing Sky’s offering of all major broadcasters’ on-demand portals.
From Monday 18 March, 4oD will be accessible directly through Sky+ HD boxes that are connected to broadband and have Sky’s On Demand service activated. Versions of BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and Demand 5 are already available, along with Sky’s on-demand offering of its own programmes.
Archive C4 programmes such as The Inbetweeners, Shameless, Spaced, Father Ted, The IT Crowd and This Is England ’88 will also be available.
In addition, C4 programmes will join Sky Go, the internet and mobile TV portal. Sky Go previously only carried content from Sky and related satellite channels. 4oD on Sky Go will, however, not offer catch-up for recent Channel 4 content – it will be restricted to live streams of C4 and More4 (with E4 and Film4 to follow in due course), plus archive programming.
Archive C4 content will also join the premium Sky Go Extra service, which allows content to be downloaded and viewed offline for an additional monthly fee.
