X-Men and 30 Rock actor James Marsden has joined the cast of Anchorman: The Legend Continues.
The 39-year-old star will join Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Kristen Wiig, Steve Carell and Christina Applegate in the film, which continues the story of San Diego’s favourite newsman Ron Burgundy, played by Ferrell.
Marsden’s character is an anchor for a rival news broadcaster who will become Burgundy’s nemesis in the sequel to 2004 comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.
Directed by Adam McKay, the film is expected to start shooting in Atlanta next month, and will be in UK cinemas by the end of 2013.
Along with his recurring role as Liz Lemon’s love interest Criss Chros in 30 Rock, Marsden has appeared in romantic comedies such as Hairspray, Enchanted, The Notebook and 27 Dresses and is set to play Marvel superhero Cyclops for the fourth time in X-Men sequel Days of Future Past.
