Celebrity Big Brother and former EastEnders star Gillian Taylforth joins Hollyoaks

The actress will play matriarch Sandy Roscoe, while the Channel 4 soap also welcomes back infamous villain Clare Devine played by Gemma Bissix

Fresh from her stint on Celebrity Big Brother, Gillian Taylforth is joining the cast of Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, playing Sandy Roscoe, the matriarch of a family of five boys who are set to move into the village.

The actress – who spent 15 years on Albert Square as EastEnder Kathy Beale – eventually left the soap in 2000, before bosses made the decision to kill off her character off screen in 2006.

Taylforth’s move to Hollyoaks follows her appearance in the most recent series of Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother where she finished in eighth place behind winner Rylan Clark and reality power couple Speidi.

In addition to that casting news, it has also been revealed that Hollyoaks arch-villain Clare Devine is poised to make a reappearance.

Played by actress Gemma Bissix, Clare first departed our screens in 2007, before briefly returning to wreak revenge on her nemeses Warren Fox and Justin Burton.

She was last seen under arrest for Warren’s murder.

Details of her return to the soap are yet to be released, but residents of Hollyoaks village had better watch their backs…
