Ben & Jerry’s launches 30 Rock Liz Lemon flavour ice-cream

The US sitcom bid a final farewell to American audiences last night - but its legacy will live on in the nation's freezers

The end of US comedy 30 Rock last night will have left a bitter taste in the mouths of American fans – but ice-cream brand Ben & Jerry’s is hoping to take it away, with the launch of a new flavour based on one of the show’s central roles.

Liz Lemon – a citrus-flavoured frozen Greek yoghurt with a blueberry lavender swirl running through it – pays tribute to creator Tina Fey’s character of the same name, who is head writer on TGS, the fictional talk show at the centre of the sitcom.

Ben & Jerry’s held a 30 Rock finale screening in hip New York bar Latitude, where it unveiled the new flavour, which will be available in the States this spring.

30 Rock is currently part-way through its penultimate sixth series in this country, where it shows on subscription channel Comedy Central. But while season seven is expected to reach UK audiences, Ben & Jerry’s, sadly, has no plans to bring Liz Lemon flavour to Britain. Blërg.
