*Spoiler alert – this post contains descriptions of scenes in the new Iron Man film which you may not wish to know about. Proceed with caution*
The makers of Iron Man 3 looked like they were doing their level best to blow up a Hollywood landmark earlier this week while shooting a stunt sequence in front of the former Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.
A number of bystanders managed to capture footage of a car chase being staged on Hollywood Boulevard for the movie, which involved a lot of speeding vehicles, fleeing extras and powerful explosives.
News of a bombing sequence in the film first came to light in November 2012, when the furniture restoration company Master Craftsmen Services revealed that they had been employed by Iron Man 3’s makers to “upholster about 22 theatre seats that will be digitally replicated to create an entire theatre on-screen,” which “will then appear to have been bombed during a terrorist attack in Afghanistan.”
It is believed that this week’s stunt sequence was staged as part of re-shoots for the film, and that the location of the bombing may have been changed.
Iron Man 3, the Marvel Comics superhero sequel which stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley, will be released in UK cinemas on Friday 26 April.
