Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 leads nominations at Razzies

The final film from the fantasy series starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson is up for a whopping ten awards at the anti-Oscars

It may have grossed more than £500m in box office sales across the world, but that doesn’t mean the final part of the Twilight movie franchise was to the taste of everyone, it seems.

The Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson vehicle Breaking Dawn Part 2 has dominated the nominations at this year’s Razzies – the annual anti-Oscars designed to find the worst films and performances from the past 12 months.

The Twilight film picked up ten nods at the awards, including the worst picture, worst screenplay and the worst screen couple award for Pattinson and Stewart.

Although all three previous Twilight films had been nominated, they did not pick up any awards.  It is understood the Razzies committee have been waiting for their chance to repay the franchise for “sucking the life out of cinema.”

“This is our equivalent to The Lord of the Rings. It’s our members’ last chance to razz Twilight,” said Razzies founder John Wilson.

Big budget board game-inspired blockbuster Battleship also did “well”, attracting seven nominations this year, including a worst supporting actress nod for pop-star-cum-actress Rihanna.

Last year the awards was dominated by Adam Sandler comedy Jack and Jill, which picked up 10 awards at the ceremony.

The first Golden Raspberry Awards were held in 1981 in Wilson’s living room.  The 33rd annual awards will take place on 23 February 2013, the night before the Oscars in Los Angeles.
