Former Coronation Street star Andrew Lancel faces child sex charges

The actor, who played Frank Foster, will appear in court later this month to face five counts of indecent assault on a child under 16

Former Coronation Street actor Andrew Lancel, who played factory boss Frank Foster on the ITV soap, has been charged with historical child sex offences, Merseyside police have said.

The 42-year-old, who was charged yesterday under his real name Andrew Watkinson, faces five counts of indecent assault on a child under 16.

Merseyside Police said Lancel, who is from Gateacre in Liverpool, had been bailed to appear at South Sefton Magistrates’ Court on 19 December.

Lancel left Coronation Street in March after the character of Frank Foster was murdered by his mother Anne. Before his stint on Corrie, Lancel played DI Neil Manson on The Bill. Most recently, he has been starring in Liverpool as Brian Epstein in the play Epstein: the Man who Made the Beatles.
