Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter feature in new Les Misérables posters

The big-screen musical adaptation has also released an image of Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne ahead of its upcoming release

If you thought Les Misérables was going to live up to its glum name then think again, as comic duo Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter demonstrate their comedic skills in the latest poster to be released. Alongside the caption “Master of the House”, the pair – who play innkeeper Thénardier and his wife – are pulling comedic expressions with Bonham Carter’s messy hair adorned with sprigs of holly and Baron Cohen dressed in period costume – a sensible contrast to some of his previously outlandish outfits playing alter-egos Borat and Bruno.

But their co-stars Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried’s storyline provides a serious parallel, as portrayed in their poster which sees them sporting pained expressions as they stand parted, either side of an iron gate. The actors – who play lovers Marius and Cosette – are part of a love triangle with actress Samantha Barks who plays Eponine, daughter of the Thénardiers.

The film is set for release in the US on Christmas Day, with a UK release to follow on 11 January 2013. See the film’s main poster here, a poster of Hugh Jackman here, and the trailer here
