After two long years, Iron Man is back. And in this dark and dramatic trailer, it looks as though love interest Pepper Potts is in danger.
In the fast-paced trailer, the Marvel superhero says “I hope I can protect the one thing I can’t live without” before we are shown scenes of Tony Stark’s hi-tech home being blown up, and him and Potts falling into the sea below.
Disney has previously revealed that Stark will have “his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands” – so from the first full length trailer we can assume that his enemy in the third Iron Man installment will be targeting Potts, who is played by actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
The trailer also gives us a glimpse of Iron Man’s latest evil rival: The Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley.
The Mandarin – who can be heard saying: “Some people call me a terrorist. I consider myself a teacher” – has been described by Disney as “an enemy whose reach knows no bounds.”
Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black and also stars Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale and Jon Favreau.
