Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren and Scarlett Johansson in new Hitchcock trailer

Jessica Biel and Toni Collette also star in the depiction of the late director’s struggle to make classic horror flick Psycho

A new trailer starring Anthony Hopkins in an uncanny portrayal of the late director Alfred Hitchcock has been released, alongside Helen Mirren as his wife Alma Reville and Scarlett Johansson playing his muse Janet Leigh.

The film, which also stars Jessica Biel and Toni Collette, follows the acclaimed director through the personal and professional troubles he suffered during the making of his 1960 classic Psycho.

Featuring some Oscar-tipped sparring between Hopkins and Mirren, the plot shows the couple staking their financial stability on Hitchcock’s horror brainchild, after studio bosses refused to grant him funding.

Sacha Gervasi’s film – due to be released in the US on November 23 – portrays the director in a more sympathetic light than HBO’s competing biopic The Girl by depicting the reckless battle he fought to bring the now iconic horror movie to the big screen.

Unfortunately for British fans, the wait is a little longer as the film is not due to arrive over here until 8 February 2013.
