Bio: Former Fame Academy finalist Carolynne narrowly missed out on reaching the live shows during last year’s X Factor, but won through this time round with her version of Ronan Keating’s When You Say Nothing At All.
“It was gutting leaving the show last year because I already felt like I’d failed at so many other things,” she said. “I was devastated.”
On top of all that, her X Factor performances came after a failed course of IVF treatment and the end of her marriage to footballer David Poole.
Carolynne says she’s now feeling more positive and insists that she wants to win more than anyone: “I know everybody wants it really badly. I know they do, but I want it more.”
What we said: “Carolynne Poole introduced some tension when her vocals fell behind the music. Rather than pausing and then rejoining the song later, Carolynne gradually accelerated and had caught up again by the end. Bravo.” (week seven, judges’ houses)
RT predicts: Put through from a weak category with much play on her personal back story. Viewers will soon forget all that when she performs, and she struggled at judges’ houses. Needs to improve, but she’s been around too long already to do that. 10th
