Anthony Hopkins is transformed into Alfred Hitchcock

See a new poster for the upcoming “biographical comedy-drama”, Hitchcock, due for release on 23 November

As you can see from this new film poster, Anthony Hopkins underwent quite the transformation for his starring role in Hitchcock, a “biographical comedy-drama” about legendary British film director Alfred Hitchcock.

The film, which originally bore the title Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, was originally slated for release in 2013 but will now make its debut in UK cinemas on Friday 23 November.

As well as Hopkins, the film features appearances from Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Dame Helen Mirren and Ralph Macchio.

Directed by Sacha Gervasi and ostensibly a mock behind-the-scenes look at the making of Hitchcock’s 1960 horror classic Psycho, the film will focus on Hitchcock’s relationship with his wife Alma Reville (Mirren) and explore the director’s battles with Hollywood censors.

Hitchcock’s release will be preceded by an HBO TV biopic about the director entitled The Girl, which stars Toby Jones. Instead of Psycho, however, the HBO film will examine the making of Hitchcock’s 1963 picture The Birds.
