Tracy Beaker actress Dani Harmer is the first celebrity confirmed to be taking part in this year’s Strictly.
The star of children’s TV shows The Story of Tracy Beaker and Dani’s House is no stranger to the dance floor. Alongside Outnumbered actor Tyger Drew-Honey, she reached the final of BBC1’s Let’s Dance for Sport Relief earlier this year – and until recently Dani was also the leading lady in touring musical Disco Inferno.
An investor for the musical withdrew after learning that Dani Harmer had quit to take part in the dance show, and Disco Inferno has since been cancelled.
Dani apologised to her fans on Twitter, saying: “I would just like to send a massive apology to everyone that has booked tickets to see Disco Inferno! Unfortunately the tour has been cancelled!”
“On behalf of all the cast thank you to all your amazing tweets from you guys who have seen and enjoyed it. We’re all gutted.”
She later tweeted: “Looking forward to my next adventure. Can’t wait to tell you all what I’m doing next! So excited.”
The full line up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing remains shrouded in mystery.
Strictly Come Dancing starts on Saturday 15 September at 6:30pm on BBC1
