The Outlaw Josey Wales – 9:00pm, 5USA


Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this post-Civil War western epic. After his wife and child are slaughtered and his farm burnt to the ground by Union raiders, Josey Wales joins a band of Confederate guerrillas and seeks revenge.

The Parole Officer – 9:00pm, Gold

Comedy about an inept parole officer, Simon Garden (Steven Coogan) who is framed for the murder of a drug dealer. He hatches a plane to recover the evidence that can clear his name, but in true Coogan style it doesn’t all go to plan…

We Need to Talk About Kevin – 10.15pm, Sky Movies Premiere

A beautiful and troubling adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s novel, exploring the relationship between a mother and her disturbed child. Features a masterful performance from Tilda Swinton who is tormented by guilt and grief following her son’s terrible crimes.

Public Enemies –10.35pm, ITV1

Based on Bryan Burrough’s novel and starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard. John Dillinger is a suave bank robber, jail breaker and folk hero at the height of his criminal career when he is branded America’s very first Public Enemy No.1. Director Michael Mann’s documentary-style narrative follows top FBI agent Melvin Purvis’s efforts to capture this notorious gangster.

Elizabeth: the Golden Age – 11.10pm, ITV3

Cate Blanchett reprises her role in the sequel to her break-out film Elizabeth, alongside Clive Owen and Geoffrey Rush. In her later reign Queen Elizabeth I faces numerous threats and crises, including a looming invasion from the Spanish Armada, rising religious tension in England, an assassination plot against the monarchy, and the increasing pressure to marry and bear a child to inherit the throne.

Welcome to Collinwood – 11.50pm, BBC2


Crime comedy about Cosimo – a jailed petty thief who is given the plan for the perfect heist from a lifer in prison. While he’s in jail, his girlfriend assembles a ragtag band of wannabe criminals who all want a piece of the action and, with the help of wheelchair-confined safe-cracker Jerzy (George Clooney), they set about putting their robbery into action.
