Passport to Pimlico – 3.05pm, Film4


Ealing comedy starring Stanley Holloway about a local historian who discovers that the London suburb of Pimlico belongs to France, resulting in the creation of new borders and formation of their own government.

Hancock – 7.10pm, 5*

Action hero Will Smith is disillusioned superhero John Hancock who’s swapped saving lives for drunken flying before his tarnished image is repaired by PR expert Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman).

Made in Dagenham – 8.00pm, Sky Movies Drama & Romance

Set in 1968 and focusing on the struggle of female machinists to earn equal pay at Dagenham’s Ford factory, this comedy drama follows their fight all the way to the government to prove their worth. 

The Godfather – 9.00pm, Film4

This Oscar-winning crime drama, set in post-WWII America and starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, is packed full of subtle acting and stunning cinematography as it follows the blood loyalty and honour of the criminal underworld. 

Full Metal Jacket – 10.10pm, ITV4

Superb performances from Matthew Modine, Adam Baldwin and Vincent D’Onofrio populate this violent Vietnam War drama, about a group of raw Marine recruits undergoing training and getting their first taste of conflict.

The Rainmaker – 11.55pm, BBC1


Francis Ford Coppola’s adaptation of John Grisham’s novel focuses on Matt Damon’s inexperienced Memphis lawyer who’s thrown into the deep end when he takes on the insurance company of a young man dying of cancer.
